Cullman and Oneonta Offices
Sarah started Yellow Brick Road Counseling, LLC in 2018 with the goal of providing a safe, comfortable place for families to receive holistic mental health counseling services. Sarah received her Ed.S. from the University of Mississippi, her Master in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University, and her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from The University of Alabama at Birmingham. She is certified in trauma therapy and integrative medicine for mental health therapists. She is a Nationally Certified Counselor, a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor™️ , and a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor. She has experience in addiction counseling, childhood trauma, ADHD, Autism, and parenting. Additionally, she provides animal-assisted psychotherapy and is currently working on her certification. Charlie (pictured here) is an AKC Certified Good Citizen, a service dog, and a psychotherapy assistant. Sarah also provides EMDR therapy. Sarah spends most of her time in Cullman but also provides services in the Oneonta office once a week. Sarah is married to a retired teacher, and they have two sons and two granddaughters.
Sara joined Yellow Brick Road Counseling, LLC in 2018. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). She obtained her Master's degree in Professional Counseling in 2017 through Grand Canyon University and her Bachelor's in Behavioral Science in 2009 from Athens State University. Sara is certified in AutPlay Therapy, which helps clients who have learning disabilities and other diagnoses, such as Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD. She is also certified in Integrated Behavioral Medicine and has a great deal of training in play therapy. Sara utilizes a variety of therapeutic interventions, including Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Play Therapy, EMDR, and Family Therapy. She is married and enjoys spending time outdoors and loving their three dogs.
Haley joined Yellow Brick Road Counseling in 2022. She has previous experience in both customer service and management. She graduated from Snead State Community College in 2016 with an Associate in Science.
In her spare time, she loves to sing and look for arrowheads on her grandfather's farmland.
Alicia joined Yellow Brick Road Counseling in 2022. In her spare time, she loves to spend time with her family and gardening.
Kori joined Yellow Brick Road Counseling, LLC in 2019 and has over 20 years of experience as a mental health counselor working in a variety of settings. She has experience working with substance abuse, youth offenders, ADHD, and other mental health issues. She is a mother of two and enjoys running.
Narda is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She graduated with Honors and received her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University, with a specialization in General Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Prior to joining Yellow Brick Road Counseling, LLC in 2019, Narda worked for a private hospital in the Birmingham area; where she assisted adults, teens, and adolescents with severe mental illnesses by providing individual and family sessions. Narda has experience with facilitating processes, mental health, and recreational groups for adults, teens, and adolescents. When not seeing clients, Narda volunteers with several civic organizations. Narda is an avid runner and enjoys spending time with her husband and child.
Cindy is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She has been at Yellow Brick Road Counseling, LLC since 2019. She received her Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education in 1989 from Athens State University. She taught kindergarten for 15 years in Huntsville City Schools. She received her Master's in School Counseling from Alabama A & M. She is retired from the Madison City Schools after 17 years of service. Cindy is married and raised two children and has a grandchild on the way! In her spare time, she loves to play tennis.
Bethany joined Yellow Brick Road Counseling, LLC in 2019 where she completed her internships working with children, adolescents, and adults of all ages. She earned her Bachelor's in Psychology at the University of Montevallo and her Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Alabama. She is a Nationally Certified Counselor and Licensed Professional Counselor. She provides a variety of interventions including play therapy and EMDR. In her free time, she enjoys playing with her dog and cat, writing, knitting, and needle felting.
Blake is an Associate Licensed Counselor supervised by Sarah Brickell, Ed.S., NCC, RPT-S™️, LPC-S. He joined Yellow Brick Road Counseling, LLC in 2020. He received his Bachelor's in Psychology and his Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The University of Alabama at Birmingham. He did his internship as a trauma and behavior therapist at Clay House Child Advocacy Center. He primarily works with children and teens using CBT and Child-Centered Play Therapy. Some fun stuff: He really enjoys paintball, and video games, and says he is obsessed with Marvel superheroes!
Kristy is a Nationally Certified Counselor by the National Board of Certified Counselors. She is an Associate Licensed Counselor under the supervision of Kimyatta Fails, LPC-S. She joined Yellow Brick Road Counseling, LLC in 2022. She recently worked as a School Counselor and teacher for the DODEA in Europe. She has also been a middle, high, and junior college science, and math teacher in the Morgan County Schools until retirement (26 yrs. public/10 years adjunct junior). She received her undergraduate degree from Athens State (Athens, AL). She received two Masters in Secondary Education from the University of Alabama-Birmingham (2000) and the University of North Alabama (2007). She received her Master’s in Administration from the University of North Alabama in 2008. She received her ED.S. in Science from the University of Alabama in 2007. She received her Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction in 2011 from the University of Alabama. In 2017, she earned her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Alabama. She enjoys reading, family, and running/walking. She delights in learning and traveling. Her other loves include varieties of football, sports of other types (hiking, paragliding, etc.), and any athletic contest involving UA Crimson Tide. She loves New Orleans and has carried student groups there for years. In Europe, I have found Amsterdam to be her ‘new’ New Orleans. She has been married for 30 wonderful years to Anthony, and they have 2 sons: Judd (Marine Veteran) and Zeke (studying a trade).
Huntsville Office -Weatherly Plaza
Melissa is a graduate of the University of Alabama. She has worked with Madison County families that have experiencing trauma for 15 years and is certified in treating trauma. Melissa offers a wide range of mental health treatment and often implements expressive forms of therapy such as play, art, and sand tray. Melissa is certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and she is certified in Trauma Play Therapy. Her motto is: "Play is the highest form of research!"
Oneonta & Cropwell Office
Rebecca is a Nationally Certified Counselor and an Licensed Professional Counselor. She joined Yellow Brick Road Counseling, LLC in 2021. She received her Bachelor's in Psychology with a minor in Sociology in 2015 from UAB. She received her Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Montevallo in May 2020. She has experience working with children ages 5+, specializing in grief. She also has experience working with children with Autism and ADHD. She has a passion for Creative Arts Therapy and has training in Play Therapy. She strives to meet each individual where they are and provide them with a caring and supportive environment.
Ann Gould, LPC
Ann joined Yellow Brick Road Counseling in 2021. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Nationally Certified Counselor as well as a member of the National Board of Certified Counselors. She received her master's degree from Spring Arbor University in Michigan. Ann has been counseling for the last 10 years in many different settings including agency, private, school, and going into clients' homes. She enjoys counseling teens as well as helping parents and families. Ann specializes in depression and anxiety in people of all ages. She is the mother of two grown children. When she is not at work, she is visiting with friends, hiking, or on the water in her kayak.

Tara is an Associate Licensed Counselor, supervised by Sarah Brickell, Ed.S., NCC, RPT-S™️, LPC-S. She joined Yellow Brick Road Counseling in 2023. She received her master's degree from Jacksonville State University.
Lora Baker, ALC
Lora joined Yellow Brick Road Counseling, LLC in 2022. She earned her Bachelor's in Psychology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2017 and her Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Montevallo in 2022. She has extensive training and is a registered student of Psychodrama and Sociometry pursuing certification since 2019. Lora is an Associate Licensed Counselor under the supervision of Sarah Brickell, Ed.S, NCC, RPT-S™️, LPC-S. She utilizes therapeutic modalities and interventions such as CBT, Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Art Therapy, Mindfulness, and Yoga and will soon be getting training in Play-Therapy and other modalities. Her areas of interest are in working with trauma, self-esteem issues, addictions, anxiety and depression, spirituality, emotional regulation, and developing communication skills. In her free time, she enjoys playing with her cats, going to the gym, drawing/painting, writing poetry, or enjoying the great outdoors by hiking, camping, or kayaking with her friends and brother.

Julianna joined Yellow Brick Road Counseling, LLC in 2023. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She received her Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of West Alabama. Julianna is an Associate Licensed Counselor under the supervision of Sarah Brickell, Ed.S, NCC, RPT-S™️, LPC-S.
Shaquilla Gibbons, LMFTA
Shaquilla Gibbons-Robinson joined Yellow Brick Road Counseling, LLC in 2022 as an intern. She is currently an associate Marriage and Family Therapist working towards her licensure under the clinical supervision of Dannette Bivins, LPC-S, LMFT, NCC, JSOCC of
Intentional Healing, LLC. She graduated from Valdosta State University in 2016 with a Bachelor of Art degree in psychology and in June of 2023, she received her Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy/Counseling from Capella University. Also during her time at Capella, she received her graduate certification in contemporary theory in couples and family systems. In her free time she enjoys reading and spending time with her husband and 6 fur babies.

Scott joined Yellowbrick Road Counseling LLC in 2023. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and received his Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University with Honors. Scott is an Associate Licensed Counselor under the supervision of Sarah Brickell, Ed,S, NCC, RPT-S, LPC-S. He has been married for 21 years and has two sons. He enjoys working with clients of all ages and is currently in Oneonta 3 days a week and Cullman 1 day a week. Cullman Office
Ashante Sloan, ALC
Ashante Sloan is an Associated Licensed Counselor under the supervision of Kady Abbott, LPC-S. She recently joined Yellow Brick Road Counseling, LLC in 2023. She previously worked as the Clinical Coordinator and Primary therapist for a child and family treatment center. She has been working as an alcohol and drug therapist over the past 5 years and credits her ability to help clients successfully overcome addiction due to her training at Southeast Addiction Center in Atlanta, Georgia. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology and minor in Social Work at Florida A&M University in 2001. After being inspired by her professors, two clinical psychologists from Florida State University, she decided to pursue her Master’s in Community Counseling at Clark Atlanta University. She received her Master’s in counseling in 2008. She states that her inspiration came from working at a school developed by her professors,where she served as a middle school teacher for three years. She also credits the children that she worked with as the motivating force to finally pursue her dream of becoming a therapist. After graduation, she became a National Spokesperson for the National Marrow Donor Program, Be The Match. She became a spoke person after receiving a bone marrow transplant immediately following her graduation from her Master’s program 14 years ago. She also became a Family Patient Advisor for Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia after a group of nurses recognized her commitment to patients undergoing treatment for various disorders that require a bone marrow transplant. The work required to overcome serious life obstacles only equipped her with more techniques and therapeutic approaches to help her clients successfully overcome life obstacles and finally heal from the trauma of their past.
